Heating efficiently begins with good insulation: 4 simple tips

If you wish to heat efficiently, an efficient heating installation is not enough. Heating efficiently begins with good insulation. You may not always notice, but even the smallest cracks and chinks will allow heat to escape. Of course, you don't necessarily have to re-insulate your entire house. These four tips offer a simple solution to avoiding heat loss

1.    Insulation film for single glazing

Single glazing offers very little insulation and that is precisely why double-glazing has become the standard over the years. But, you don’t have to replace all your windows. You can easily apply (transparent) insulation film to the windows.

2.    Seal cracks

Do you feel a cold draught from your windows or under doors? Place a draught-excluder in front of the door and seal your windows with draught strips. This will keep the heat indoors, even if this is not a permanent solution. If your window profiles are really worn out, it is definitely worth replacing them as soon as possible.

3.    Close roller blinds and curtains

It is obvious that it’s best to keep doors and windows closed if your radiators are on. But closing curtains and roller blinds also helps to combat heat loss. Close them when it starts to cool down to keep indoors nice and warm.

4.    Insulate water pipes

Water pipes that run through uninsulated areas lose a great deal of heat. Your central heating boiler must then work harder to keep the water at the right temperature. Cover your pipes with an insulating layer.

Better insulation, less energy consumption

If there is less heat loss, you will use less energy to heat your home. That’s interesting! Choose energy efficient radiators for even greater efficiency. Find a Brugman dealer near you for customised advice.
