Environmentally-friendly heating... Does that exist?

Environmentally-friendly heating... Does that exist?

What is good for the environment is often good for our wallets too. And that’s always great news! Heating your home often eats up a large chunk of the family budget. So it could be interesting to look at environmentally-friendly heating. Or is that just the stuff of fairytales? Let us show you!

Low temperature heating; better efficiency

Low temperature heating is the best way of substantially reducing your energy consumption. With this, the supply temperature of the water for your central heating system lies between 35 and 55 degrees Celsius, whereas for a traditional heating system this would be around 70-80 degrees Celsius. As a result, the efficiency of these low temperature models is considerably higher than traditional systems. Your energy consumption could drop by up to 30%!

All-electric heating

By choosing all-electric heating, you no longer need to use natural gas or heating oil as a heat source. This, in turn, reduces your CO2-emissions. Depending on your energy supplier, electric radiators may be the most ecological option! The story gets even 'greener’ if you also opt to generate your own power. This could include an electric heat pump combined with solar panels. Environmentally-friendly heating is a genuine option and, thanks to the various colours and designs, you can also install a beautiful heating element in your interior with an electric heater.

Tips for making savings on your heating bill

Finally, there are also a few things you can do to save energy. You could make sure your thermostat is set properly. This always turns the boiler on. The better your thermostat is set, the lower the energy wastage. This thermostat should be installed a metre and a half above the ground and not too close to the front door or against an external wall, in order to measure the temperature accurately. So don’t install it near a light or other heat source. Did you know that setting your thermostat one degree lower can save you 7%? That’s a minimal effort for a substantial impact!
