Your heating system creates comfort and cosiness in your home without you having to worry about it. You take your time to choose an attractive radiator with a suitable design but, once it’s installed, you don't really think about it. But you probably should. If you give your radiators a clean every now and then, you will make sure they are free from dust and dirt and will last that little bit longer.
Get to work with your duster to keep your heating system clean
You don’t need to clean your radiators from top to toe each week. Just use a duster once in a while or a damp cloth to freshen them up. Detergents and abrasive sponges are not required. They could scratch the radiator paint and cause irreparable damage.
Want to really get stuck in? Then un-clip the decorative grille on your radiator. First remove the side covers and then gently pull on the grille to release it. Use an attachment on your vacuum cleaner to reach the tricky spaces and remove the dust.
Winter is coming
When the winter arrives, all of those dust allergies rear their ugly heads again. We spend more time in our homes at this time of year. Are you allergic to dust? Then it’s wise to remove the dust between the radiators using a compressor. This will help to eliminate unhealthy singed dust when you turn on the heating system.
The weeks immediately prior to winter are also ideal for having your central heating boiler inspected. It's not just a legal requirement, it also helps to prevent unwanted surprises in the winter. A professional engineer will ensure that your heating installation will work effectively during the colder months.
